CAD and 3D Printing
CAD and 3D printing is opening up many new opportunities to design and create. Most of my time has been spent building an instrument display for my motorcycle.

The design includes seven-segment displays for RPM and speed, mounted in an acrylic tube.
I built the PCB a while ago when I was designing the electrical and electronic systems.

An early mock-up to help visualize the finished product.

The back cover is a pretty good fit, this is the prototype and will probably get redesigned with a bit more room inside. The AMP circular connector fits really well.

A printed radius filler with captured nuts will hold the tube in place.
I also printed a drill jig to ensure all the holes would end up in the right place and the correct angles.

A redesign of the console. The new design provides more room for tooling during assembly, larger and redesigned standoffs to prevent breakage, and two locations for threaded inserts to locate power and ground terminals.
